Since 14 September Greece has a new self-consumption framework from the Ministry of Environment and Energy: balcony solar up to 800 W with a simple online registration, batteries without solar panels for own use, easier collective self-consumption in apartment buildings, and a special procedure for municipalities, schools and hospitals. Specifications by 31 October, digital portal by the end of the year.

The Ministry already counts 38,812 self-consumption systems since 2020, more than €170 million in running programmes for rooftops, farms and business storage, and €476 million coming for the islands. Together with Social Leasing for electric cars within 2026, the market is opening now. Households, installers, municipalities and companies will be looking for suppliers over the coming months.
